March Monthly MeetupSo was Werner last year when his client decided that they would generally discontinue working with contractors. Three and a half years into a contract that was supposed to last only six months, it was not a huge surprise. Werner has been a Project/Program Management Consultant and Contractor for 20 years, most of it being self-employed at his own company TPIMC, LLC (TechPro | Interim Management & Consulting). He has worked in more than a dozen European countries as well as in the US and with partners spanning across 13.5h timezones; mostly in the Telecoms/IT industry, but also in Retail and Healthcare. Sometimes projects were small but he also led projects with 35+ team members and budgets of $10+ million. Holding an MBA, a PMP Certification and with a CSM under his belt, he ventured out to look for a new role – as he’d done multiple times before; because that’s what you do when you’re self-employed. Now, looking back, he would like to share the ‘Lessons Learned’ from his journey in a very subjective review at the Dinner meeting of the PMI Monterey Bay Chapter. |
