Happy April Monterey Bay Chapter


Due to widespread flooding in the region and power loss on the Monterey Peninsula, the March Madness mixer scheduled for March 16 was cancelled. We look forward to seeing you at the April 4 breakfast meeting and the Chapter member meeting on April 20. To expand our knowledge base and networks, we are currently welcoming members and others who are interested in joining the Project Management Institute Monterey Bay Chapter.


First Tuesday Breakfast: Join us to discuss project management jobs: the content of those jobs, where they are, and where the openings are. Other topics include waterfall versus Agile, PDUs, and certification. The first 10 people to RSVP will receive a free breakfast and you can also earn 1 PDU for attending!
New Location: Marina Village Restaurant, 215 Reservation Road, Marina, CA 93933. First Tuesday of the month 7:00a.m - 8:00a.m.

Study sessions: We provide a place to study and a forum for support. A library study room with internet access. Drop-in to attend. Monthly on 4 th Thursdays.
El Gabilan Library 2 nd floor study room at 1400 North Main Street in Salinas.

Calling on Next Leaders: Our chapter year runs from July to June. Board of Directors members are elected for one-year term (except the President and Immediate Past President).
Election will be held in May-June timeframe. If you are interested in joining the board next year, please contact the President-Elect Chris Nannini [This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.]. Election will be held for:

  • The President Elect: chief operating officer and understudy to the
    President.
  • The Vice President of Administration: secretary; keep and administer the
    records of all business meetings.
  • The Vice President of Finance: chief financial officer; oversee the
    management of funds and financial matters.
  • The Vice President of Membership: oversees the acquisition,
    matriculation, and maintenance of the members.
  • The Vice President of Programs: oversees educational and professional
    development activities.
  • The Vice President of Communications and Marketing: oversees the
    communications with the members, prospective members and the public.

Benefits of becoming a board member:

  • Board members direct chapter activities for the benefit of the membership. You can help make Chapter meetings and activities more relevant and meaningful to you and others.
  • Board members are invited to attend the PMI Global Summit with conference and travel expenses paid. The next event will be in Atlanta, GA October 25-28.
  • Board members are offered to additional leadership training courses with the PMI covering the course fee.
